  • "This is my brother's crack house."

So, I've finally met a somewhat interesting person here at Cypress.

    Let's call her LaQueesha.

I sit next to LaQueesha in anthropology and yesterday she was telling me about what she was planning on doing for her field work project. She's doing her project on gangsters and how their upbringing and childhood limits their options on careers and whatnot. Sounds interesting enough, not that being a gangster is considered an actual culture in the eyes of science. But, whatever floats your boat, LaQueesha. Then she pulls out her laptop and shows me and this other girl all the intense footage she's been getting for the past week.

She then said in a very nonchalantly,"This is my brother's crack house."

She told us that her brother lives in sin city and runs a crack house along side of his brothas. I was seriously watching a video with gangster throwing up signs, smoking dope, and rapping. They were all doing this while using extremely obscene language. I wasn't offended or anything, it was just a little awkward. But I guess that's 'G' or 'gee', however you spell it.

Now, I'm not sure if I should reconsider my project idea. It's not nearly as crazy as LaQueesha's, but I think the Persian culture is much more sophisticated and interesting than the American thug life. The Persians were around before the Romans so I figure that I'll have plenty to write about. Plus, I have a secret weapon! Ghazzy! Even though I have still not properly asked them, I'm going to use her and her mother for my project. They are really the only people I know that are in touch with their culture.

So, I'm off to get some culture! And to study for my statistics test... Boo.

  • I wasn't planning on doing anything for Halloween, but I made myself a costume anyways. I'm a wilderness explorer, hooraaay! But alas, I'm too tired for adventure. I can't even leave my room, I'm just so out of it. I guess that's alright, I like my room. It's cozy and dark, like a cave, with only my laptop and DS lite to provide some sort of lighting.

Being a wilderness explorer, I have decided to spend the night with Dug. I love that fat, yellow lab. *I luv you too, Rachel! Will you be my master?*

Dug and I are playing Pokemon and drinking tea. It's quite nice.

That reminds me, it's now night time which means it's time to catch a Snorunt.

Sorry for this random, spacey entry. I honestly don't know what's wrong with me. As promised, here is a picture of the pumpkin I carved... it is also a Pokemon.

    I carved it last week and I guess it's getting old, which is why it's right eye is wilted, sorry guys... :{

  • Fresh as def

The farmer's market was nice. The steel drum player was pretty good, it set a nice ambiance. Too bad I don't ever have cash on me, otherwise I would have totally bought those asparagus. I think a debit card has just added to my list of "things to put off even thought it's pretty important". Oh, well... There is always next week for fresh veggies and fruits, although I would have killed for some nice heirloom tomatoes. I also carved some nice pumpkins last weekend. I'll post pictures later.

    Toodles!

  • I want this...

Oh, button machine... Why, oh, why are you $200 not including the materials? I just want to make cute buttons... All the ones in stores are stupid and ugly, all the cute ones made by those chic indie designers are expensive and... well, indie.

Good thing Christmas and New Year's are coming. Sadly, they are my only two sources of income.

TEENAGE WASTELAND

Hello, I'm Rachel
I am often told that my reaction to something exciting is the same as my reaction to something disappointing. I like movies, they're fun; but too expensive at the theater. I also drink copious amounts of tea. Earl grey and green are my favorites. Ask me anything, I have nothing to hide. You'll find I'm a rather boring person.
